IN ASSOCIATION WITH
OUR Mission
Scoot Youth exists to empower young people: a youth theatre that gives teenagers the space to tell the stories important to them – to have their voices heard and understood.
Scoot Youth is an open, inclusive environment for all young people between the ages of 11-19.
There is no requirement for any previous acting experience - members must simply be willing to engage with the company’s three rules:
BE KIND, BE BOLD, and be yourself
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
PARENT OF SCOOT YOUTH MEMBER
"I’m so grateful for Scoot – what they offer is important, especially to shy children or those struggling with social skills – but most of all it’s creative and fun, and a great way to kick off the weekend."
PARENT OF SCOOT YOUTH MEMBER
“Scoot Youth Theatre is one of the highlights of my 12 year old’s week. She really looks forward to her Saturday mornings where she knows she will be exploring ideas, developing skills and having a lot of fun in a creative, inclusive, dynamic and pressure free environment."
PARENT OF SCOOT YOUTH MEMBER
“Scoot has been a lifeline for my teenagers, particularly for my son who isn’t currently able to attend school. They’re always happy when Saturday rolls around, and they’re starting to make friends after just a term. The other children are diverse in age and personality... from the shrieking and laughter I can hear from the other side of the door, it sounds pretty cool.”
the saturday sessions
Working with professional theatre-makers, the company meets for 2 hours on Saturday mornings during term time. The company explores not only the practical skills needed to be an honest, open communicator but also the importance of mindset.
We practice grit and resilience and celebrate the value of a “growth mindset” through our devising work.
Not only do we train excellent performers, but we also help nurture confident, resilient young people, committed to making a positive impact on the world around them.
Scoot Youth is based at the The Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-On-Thames and sessions are run by a leading industry professional.
